How many days

One night works as a stop on the Ring of Kerry, with time for the town centre and the stone circle. With two nights, also do the Ring of Beara to the south, which is less busy.

When to go

From May to September the days are long and the roads of the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara are easier to drive. In summer the town fills with people doing the Ring. In spring and autumn it is usually quieter. In winter some restaurants close.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

For the town itself, no: the centre and the stone circle are done on foot. For the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara, yes — by car or on a tour. There are buses to Killarney. In Ireland you drive on the left.
