About Euromast
The Euromast was designed by architect Hugh Maaskant and built between 1958 and 1960 for the Floriade, that year's major flower exhibition. The concrete tower has an observation platform, known as the crow's nest, at about 96 metres, with a restaurant just below.
In 1970 a second tower, the Space Tower, was added on top. The Euroscoop, a glass cabin, ascends inside it, rotating slowly as it rises to 185 metres. From there you can see the port, the river, the Erasmusbrug and, on clear days, the plains far into the distance.
The Euromast has been a national monument since 2010. The tower stands on the edge of Het Park, a tree-lined park on the riverbank, and close to the entrance of the Maastunnel, which pedestrians and cyclists use to cross the river underground.
At the foot of the tower there's a café and a shop, and the high-level restaurant serves lunch and dinner with a view. Combined tickets are available with the Spido boat tour.
