About Maison de la Magie Robert-Houdin
Maison de la Magie is on the place du Château, facing the royal castle. It is dedicated to Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin, an illusionist born in Blois in 1805 and considered the father of modern magic; the American Harry Houdini adopted his stage name in his honor.
On the façade, a six-headed dragon appears in the windows when it opens. Inside there are rooms of optical illusions, objects and automata related to Robert-Houdin, and a collection about the history of magic.
The admission includes a show in the theatre, with several performances per day. The house organizes activities during French school holidays and a close-up magic festival at the end of November.
The museum is not open year-round: it operates in spring, summer, on weekends in September, and during the autumn and Christmas school holidays.
