About Plage de Palombaggia
Palombaggia is a stretch of coast south of Porto-Vecchio, with light-sand beaches framed by reddish rocks and pine trees. It sits opposite the Cerbicale islands and is among Corsica's best-known beaches.
The area remained isolated until the 1970s, when water, electricity and telephone arrived. Today there are houses and restaurants on the hills, and the Conservatoire du littoral protects 18 hectares of land behind the beach.
A little further south, the gulf of Santa Giulia has another long light-sand beach with shallow waters in a sheltered bay. Both are about 25 to 30 km from Bonifácio via the road to Porto-Vecchio.
The sea tends to be warmer from July to September. In summer months the beach fills early and parking is competitive.

Practical information
Cidade Turismo reviews its information regularly, but something may have changed. Check with the place before planning your trip.
How much time to set aside
Half a day or a full day at the beach.
Best time
June and September usually have pleasant water and fewer people. In July and August, arrive before 10:00 to find parking.
How to get there
By car from Bonifácio, about 30 km and half an hour via the road to Porto-Vecchio. There is little public transport to the beach.
Tip
Bring a beach umbrella: the pine shade disappears early. If Palombaggia is crowded, Santa Giulia next door is an alternative with shallower water.
