About Pointe du Grouin
The Pointe du Grouin is the northernmost point of Cancale, a rocky promontory 40 metres above the sea on the Côte d'Émeraude, the Emerald Coast between Saint-Malo and the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel.
From the top the view runs from cap Fréhel in the west to Granville in the east, passing the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and the islands of Chausey. Opposite lies the île des Landes, a reserve for birds and plants.
The coastal path GR 34 passes the point, and at low tide you can descend to a cave in the cliff. The point also marks the starting line of the Route du Rhum, the transatlantic race that departs from Saint-Malo every four years.
The spot attracts many visitors in summer, and the wind tends to be strong year-round.
