About Dinard
Dinard lies on the opposite bank of the Rance estuary, facing the walls of Saint-Malo. At the end of the 19th and start of the 20th century it became a seaside resort sought after by British and American families, who built the Belle Époque villas scattered over the slopes.
Many of those houses are protected and can be seen along the seafront path that rounds the town's rocky headlands, the promenade du Clair de Lune, with gardens and views toward Saint-Malo.
Since 1989 Dinard has hosted the British film festival every year, and the town has a casino, beaches and a market.
Between Saint-Malo and Dinard runs the barrage da Rance, the tidal power plant that uses the force of the tides to generate electricity; the road between the two towns crosses the dam.
