About Calle del Laurel
Laurel Street is a narrow street in Logroño's old town, near the co-cathedral and the Paseo del Espolón, parallel to where the city walls stood before they were torn down in 1862. The houses were rebuilt afterwards and, over the 20th century, their ground floors turned into bars. Today, in just over 200 meters and the adjoining streets there are dozens of bars and restaurants.
What makes Laurel famous is the way of eating. Each bar usually specializes in a pincho, a snack served at the counter: mushrooms grilled on the griddle with prawns, stuffed peppers, pig's ear, patatas bravas, small sandwiches and fried snacks. The custom is to go from bar to bar, order a pincho and a glass of Rioja wine at each place, and move on to the next. The oldest bar on the street, Blanco y Negro, appeared at the end of the 19th century.
A few metres away is San Juan Street, with the same idea and a little less crowd, and the Travesía del Laurel connects the two.
The street livens up in the late afternoon and at night, especially on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. At lunchtime and in the early afternoon many bars are closed.

It's in the old town, about a 3-minute walk from the Paseo del Espolón and the co-cathedral, and 10 minutes from the train station.
