About Muelle Uno
Muelle Uno is the first quay of Málaga's port, transformed into a promenade with shops and outdoor restaurants. It is part of the plan that opened the port to the city, and today it is the natural route between the centre and Malagueta beach.
The quay has a long history. The first stone was laid on 1 January 1588, in the reign of Philip II. In the 18th century, with the opening of trade with the Americas, the walls that separated the port from the city were taken down. From that time comes the Capilla del Puerto, which was dismantled and rebuilt stone by stone several times until its current location.
Along the quay are the marina for large yachts and, at the tip, the Centre Pompidou Málaga with its colourful cube. Running parallel is the Palmeral de las Sorpresas, a promenade with palm trees and pergolas that leads to Parque de Málaga.
At the end of Muelle Uno stands La Farola, the 19th-century lighthouse that gives its name to Paseo de la Farola, at the entrance to La Malagueta.
