About Mercado de Grado
The Grado market is the hallmark of the village and one of the best-known traditional markets in the Astúrias. On Wednesdays and Sundays, the streets and squares of the historic center fill with stalls, with producers and sellers from across the central region of the Astúrias.
At the stalls you will find Asturian cheeses, spelt and corn bread, cured meats, honey, seasonal fruits and vegetables, plants and flowers, as well as clothing, tools and household items. The market has an ancient origin, linked to Grado’s role as a stopping village between the center and the western Astúrias, and it remains the main meeting point for local residents on those days.
The surrounding historic center, protected as a historic ensemble, has stone houses, wooden balconies and the palace of Miranda-Valdecarzana. On market days, bars and restaurants serve Asturian dishes from late morning.
On other days of the week, the center is quiet and can be seen in a short time.
