About Catedral Basílica de Salta
The Catedral Basílica de Salta stands opposite Plaza 9 de Julio. Its façade combines pink and cream tones, two towers and ornamentation that stands out among the buildings in the centre. The current building dates from the 19th century and serves as the seat of the archdiocese.
The temple is connected to the devotion to the Señor and the Virgen del Milagro, important in Salta's religious life. Inside, altars and decorative elements expand the visit that begins at the façade. The Panteón de las Glorias del Norte preserves the memory of independence figures, including Martín Miguel de Güemes.
It is a functioning church, and tourist visits must respect celebrations and areas reserved for worship. Confirm access before you go and view the building calmly from the plaza. Its position allows you to combine religious architecture with an understanding of the historic centre without a road transfer.
