About Parque Nacional Los Cardones
Parque Nacional Los Cardones is located along Ruta Provincial 33 between the Lerma valley and the Valles Calchaquíes. The protected area preserves high-altitude environments, including ranges of sierras and bolsones. The columnar cacti, called cardones, are one of the elements that give the park its name and identity.
The Secretos del Cardonal sector, next to the Recta del Tin Tin, has an interpretive trail used to observe the plants and the surrounding environment. The landscape is open, with sparse vegetation and mountains in the background. The route offers an approach to the cardonal without turning the visit into a long crossing.
The park should be included in road planning, with a defined stop and time to walk. Bring water, sun protection and layers of clothing, as altitude affects thermal sensation. Stay on designated trails and do not remove plants or materials; the visit point is outside Cachi's urban core.
