About Cochemer Sesselbahn

The Cochemer Sesselbahn rises from Endertstraße up to near the Pinnerkreuz, a cross on the top of the hill opposite the castle. The cable car has operated since 1955, with open double chairs and some with covers. The line is about 360 metres long with a vertical rise of 155 metres.

Up on the top the viewpoint offers a frontal view of the Reichsburg, the Mosela bend and the vineyard-covered slopes. Trails leave the summit along the ridge; one of them leads to the Klotten wildlife park. Those who prefer walking can descend on foot via paths through trees and vineyards.

On the same Endertstraße, a few minutes from the centre, is the Historische Senfmühle, a mustard mill that operates as a production museum. The mills, from the 18th century, were restored and produce cold-ground mustard using old recipes. There are guided tours showing the process and tastings of the varieties made there.

The cable car season usually runs from March to mid-November. On days of heavy rain or wind operation may be reduced or suspended.
