About Unterstadt und Seepromenade
Meersburg is in two parts, and the Unterstadt is the one by the water. The Seepromenade runs along the lake with cafés, restaurants and shops, and ends at the harbour where scheduled boats dock. From the promenade you can see Constança on the far shore and, on clear days, the Swiss and Austrian Alps.
From the Unterstadt the Steigstraße rises — a steep stone street that climbs to the castle and the upper town, lined with half-timbered houses and shops on the ground floor. It is the most used route between the harbour and the Oberstadt, and every bend offers a view of the castle or the lake.
In the Oberstadt are the market square, with the town hall, the parish church and the Obertor gate. Around the town the vineyards slope down to the shore, and regional wine cellars sell and serve local wines.
The ferry landing for Constança is a little west of the promenade, a few minutes' walk away.
