About Triberger Wasserfälle
The Triberger Wasserfälle are among the highest waterfalls in Germany. The Gutach river drops about 163 metres in seven main falls, from a gentle plateau down into a narrow rocky valley, just above the small town of Triberg in the heart of the Black Forest.
A trail with steps and bridges runs along the falls through the forest, with viewpoints at several levels. There are entrances at the bottom in the town and at the top, and the full walk up and down takes about an hour. On high-water days after the spring thaw and heavy rains the falls are more powerful.
Triberg is one of the towns associated with the cuckoo clock, made in the Black Forest since the 18th century. In the town and neighbouring villages there are clock shops and workshops, as well as museums about the region's clockmaking tradition.
