About Titisee

The Titisee is a lake about 2 km long formed by a glacier in the last Ice Age, high in the Black Forest at around 850 metres altitude. The village of Titisee on the north shore is part of the municipality of Titisee-Neustadt.

The village shore has a promenade, cuckoo-clock shops and Black Forest products, and cafés serving Black Forest cake. In season, usually from spring to autumn, there are excursion boats and rentals of paddle boats and rowboats.

A roughly 6 km trail circles the lake through forest and meadows, away from the village crowds. The train journey from Freiburg climbs the narrow, steep Höllental valley with bridges and tunnels—sit by the window.
