About Caracalla Therme

Caracalla Therme is named after the Roman emperor Caracalla, who according to local tradition visited the springs of Aquae, the Roman name for Baden-Baden. The modern complex is next to the Friedrichsbad, on the hillside of the old town, and uses the same thermal water that springs from the hill.

There are about 5,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor pools at different temperatures, with jets, cascades, steam grottoes and a hall styled like an ancient temple. The outdoor area faces the garden and is also used in winter, with hot water against the cold air.

The sauna area, on the upper floor, is separate and textile-free, with indoor saunas and garden saunas. In the pools, swimwear is mandatory; no long shorts or sportswear are allowed. Children may enter from age 7, and those up to 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
