About Main Tower

The Main Tower is the only skyscraper in Frankfurt with a publicly accessible observation deck. The building, opened in 2000, is 200 meters tall (240 meters including the antenna) and houses the Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen. The lower floors incorporate the façade of an older building that once occupied the site.

Elevators take you to the top in less than a minute. The observation platform, at about 198 meters, is outdoors and circles the top completely. From there you can see the Altstadt with the cathedral, the bridges over the Main, the Museumsufer and, on clear days, the Taunus hills.

Entry is subject to a security check similar to an airport, with baggage X-ray. In strong wind, rain or storms the platform may close or open only partially. A restaurant operates on the 53rd floor.

Opening hours extend into the evening, later on Fridays and Saturdays, and vary between summer and winter. This makes it possible to see the city lit up, when the bank towers illuminate their façades.
