About Kleinmarkthalle
The Kleinmarkthalle is the covered market in central Frankfurt, built in 1954 a few steps from the Hauptwache and the Römerberg. The building, listed since 2000, retains 1950s architecture with large windows and a gallery on the upper floor.
There are about 60 traders in more than 150 stalls, selling fruit, vegetables, fish, meats, bread, cheeses and imported goods. It's where many locals buy the seven herbs for Grüne Soße, sold in ready-made packs at the greengrocers' stalls.
Several stalls serve counter snacks: grilled sausages, soups, sandwiches and daily specials. On the upper-floor gallery there are wine bars with tables overlooking the market activity.
The market is open Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays and public holidays. On Saturdays it draws people from the whole region and gets very busy late in the morning.
