About Narbona

Narbona occupies the estancia founded in 1909 by Juan de Narbona, regarded as one of the pioneers of wineries in Uruguay. The original main house was restored in 1990 and sits on a 50-hectare property on Ruta 21, northwest of Carmelo.

The first of the current vineyards were planted in 1998, and in 2010 a new winery, integrated into the old estate buildings, began producing high-end wines. The old cellar, dating from 1909, was the basement of Juan de Narbona's house and now hosts tastings. Tannat is the standout grape.

The property also produces cheeses and dulce de leche, sold in the country store, and has a restaurant with a wooden counter inherited from the old store and a visible cheese-aging room.

Activities include a guided tour with wine and cheese tasting, a five-course paired menu, and a property tour accompanied by sommeliers.
