About Harder Kulm
Harder Kulm is the hill just north of Interlaken. The funicular, opened in 1908, departs near Interlaken Ost and climbs 735 m through woodland in about 10 minutes to the upper station at 1,322 m.
From the top you can see the town squeezed between the Thunersee and the Brienzersee, the Aare river linking the two, and to the south the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau. The Zweiseensteg, the two-lakes bridge, juts out over the slope and ends on a triangular platform with a section of glass floor.
Five minutes from the station is the panoramic restaurant, a towered red-roofed building with a large terrace. There is also a playground, and during part of the European summer there are alphorn performances.
On the funicular route, near the lower station, there is a small wildlife park. The funicular usually runs from April to November; check operating times before you go up.
