About Gletscherschlucht Grindelwald
The Gletscherschlucht is a narrow gorge opened by the Unterer Grindelwaldgletscher, a glacier that in the past covered the area. The Lütschine river runs at the bottom, between rock walls up to 300 m high.
A wooden walkway fixed to the rock and a series of tunnels and galleries lead the visitor about 1 km into the gorge. Along the way appear rocks polished by ice and blocks of pinkish and greenish marble.
The Spinnennetz is a net of about 170 m² stretched roughly 7 m above the river, where you can lie down and walk. At the entrance there is a small mineral museum included in the ticket.
Nearby departs the Pfingstegg cable car, which climbs the slope opposite the Eiger; up there there's a summer toboggan run and trails. The gorge is usually open from May to November, and Pfingstegg from April to October; for the cable car, check operations before going up.

One to two hours in the gorge.
Best time
From May to July, with the thaw, the river tends to be fuller. The gorge is a good option on days with low clouds, since views don't matter there.
How to get there
Local bus from Grindelwald center or walk, descending the slope from the village.
Tip
Wear a jacket and closed shoes: inside the gorge it's cold and damp. Combine it with Pfingstegg on the same morning.
