About Estação do Pinhão
The Estação do Pinhão is on the Linha do Douro, which links Porto to the inland areas along the river valley. The village became one of the main wine loading points, with wine leaving the surrounding quintas to be taken to Porto.
The passenger building is entirely decorated with blue-and-white tile panels produced by the Fábrica Aleluia of Aveiro. The scenes depict regional landscapes, the harvest, the transport of grapes in baskets, and the rabelos (traditional boats).
The station remains in operation, with regional trains connecting Porto to Régua, Pinhão and Pocinho. The journey from Régua runs right alongside the river.
Opposite is the village center, and the Pinhão quay, from which boats depart for Douro cruises, is a few minutes on foot.
