About Cabo Girão
Cabo Girão is in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, about 15 km west of Funchal. The cliff is roughly 580 metres high and is one of the tallest in Europe.
At the top, a suspended glass platform, the skywalk, lets you see the sea and the rocks directly under your feet.
At the base of the cliff, by the sea, are the fajãs of Cabo Girão, small flat areas formed by landslides where vineyards and vegetable gardens are cultivated. A cable car descends to them.
From the viewpoint you can see the island's south coast as far as Funchal. A few kilometres away is Câmara de Lobos, a fishing village that inspired paintings by Winston Churchill.
