About Aljustrel e os Valinhos
Aljustrel is a small village of stone houses about 2 km from the Santuário de Fátima. The families of the three shepherd children lived there.
Lúcia's house and the house of Francisco and Jacinta, who were siblings, are open to visitors and show how a peasant family lived at the beginning of the 20th century, with a hearth kitchen, simple rooms and period objects.
Between the sanctuary and the village, the footpath goes through the Valinhos, where tradition places one of the apparitions, and past the Loca do Cabeço, linked to the angelic apparitions of 1916. The Via-Sacra, marked by small chapels, follows the route.
Many pilgrims make the walk on foot, in silence or praying, among olive trees and stone walls.
