About Ponta da Piedade

The Ponta da Piedade is about 2 km south of Lagos town centre. The limestone cliffs, in golden and orange tones, have been sculpted by the sea into arches, tunnels, grottos and columns rising from the water.

At the top of the promontory there's a lighthouse and viewpoints with views along the coast to Sagres. A long stairway descends the cliff to a small platform at sea level.

The best way to see the grottos from the inside is by boat or kayak, on tours that depart from the marina and the beaches of Lagos.

A cliff-top path links the Ponta da Piedade to neighbouring beaches such as Camilo and Dona Ana, and continues toward Praia de Porto de Mós.
