About Päiperleksgaart (Jardim de Borboletas de Grevenmacher)
The Päiperleksgaart, the butterfly garden in Luxembourgish, is at the entrance to Grevenmacher, on route de Trèves. It is a greenhouse of more than 600 m² with a tropical climate, maintained at around 28 °C and high humidity, where butterflies of 30 to 40 species from various parts of the world fly freely among the plants.
The route follows paths among tropical plants, flowers, small lakes and waterfalls, with 18 explanatory stations about the butterfly life cycle, from caterpillar to chrysalis to adult. Display cases show chrysalises about to open. The garden is also home to Chinese quails, chameleons, turtles and bees.
The visit appeals to children and adults and also works on rainy days, since it is covered. An app and panels provide explanations in four languages, and there is a café and shop at the exit.
The number of visitors per hour is limited, and online reservation is usually recommended on busy days. The garden generally operates in season, from spring to autumn; confirm the dates.
