About Caves Bernard-Massard

The Caves Bernard-Massard are in the centre of Grevenmacher, next to the bridge over the Mosela, and are one of Luxembourg’s best-known sparkling wine houses. The house is named after its founder, Jean Bernard-Massard, and produces Luxembourg crémant and Moselle wines, as well as sparkling wines under other denominations.

The visit goes through the cellars where the bottles rest and explains the traditional method: the second fermentation inside the bottle, the long ageing on the lees, the remuage, where the bottles are turned and tilted until the sediment gathers in the neck, and the dégorgement, when that sediment is removed. Panels and films also show the work in the hillside vineyards.

At the end there is a tasting, and the shop sells the house’s sparkling wines and wines. In season, from April to October, visits and tastings are usually held regularly; outside that period they may require prior arrangement.

From the entrance to the cellars you can walk to the sightseeing boat quay and to the town centre.
