About Spiaggia della Pelosa
The Spiaggia della Pelosa is located at the tip of the Stintino peninsula, at the far northwest of Sardenha, about 2 km from the village. The sand is white and fine, and the water remains shallow for tens of meters, in pale blue and turquoise shades. Facing it is the islet with the Torre della Pelosa, a Spanish watchtower, and further out the island Piana and the island Asinara.
The beach is small and highly sought after, and it has suffered sand erosion. For this reason the municipality of Stintino limits access during the summer season: you must reserve in advance and pay an entry fee, and the number of people per day is controlled. In recent years the rule has applied from May or June until September or October; check dates and conditions before you go.
There are also rules to protect the sand, such as using a mat under your towel and not taking sand or shells away.
Stintino, the nearby village, was founded at the end of the 19th century as a tuna-fishing village and has a Museo della Tonnara at the port. Boats depart from there to the Parque Nacional da Asinara.
