About Bosco Verticale

The Bosco Verticale, or vertical forest, consists of two residential towers designed by architect Stefano Boeri and completed in 2014, in the Isola district. The balconies host hundreds of trees and thousands of shrubs and plants, which change color with the seasons.

The towers are part of Porta Nuova, the skyscraper district built over former railway yards between the Porta Garibaldi and Centrale stations. The neighborhood's center is Piazza Gae Aulenti, an elevated square with fountains, surrounding the UniCredit tower, the tallest building in Italy with its spire.

Between the towers and Via Melchiorre Gioia lies the Biblioteca degli Alberi, a public park with paths, trees and lawns. Corso Como, a pedestrian street with bars and shops, links the square to Porta Garibaldi station.

The towers are residential and not open to visitors; the walk is outside, through the squares and the park.
