About Via dell'Amore
The Via dell'Amore is a pedestrian walkway along the cliff that links Riomaggiore to Manarola, just over 1 km long. It is one of the four sections of the Sentiero Azzurro, the park's best-known trail. The route is flat, with continuous sea views, and takes about 30 minutes.
Today access is regulated by the park. The entrance is in Riomaggiore and the route is one-way to Manarola. Visitors need the Cinque Terre Card, with a reserved entry time and a limited number of spaces.
Along the way there are park staff providing information. The name comes from the tradition that young lovers from the two villages used to meet there, halfway between them, on land where almost everything is uphill.
It is the easiest section of the former Sentiero Azzurro and the only one between the villages without steep climbs. Opening hours change with the season.
