About Nijntje Museum
Nijntje is the original name of the little rabbit the world knows as Miffy, created by Utrecht illustrator and writer Dick Bruna (1927–2017). The museum dedicated to her is in the Museumkwartier and is part of the Centraal Museum.
The space is designed for young children, roughly ages 2 to 6. It comprises about 1,500 square metres of themed rooms where children look, touch, smell and play within the world of Bruna's books, with bold colours and simple shapes.
Bruna's idea of giving children a safe world where they can explore independently guides the layout of the rooms. There is a 360-degree projection, an art workshop on weekends and story readings on some days.
For adults who grew up with Miffy, the museum is also a nostalgic visit. The shop sells books and items featuring Bruna's characters.
