About Quinta Vergara

The Quinta Vergara was the property of the Vergara family, connected to the founding of Viña del Mar. In 1941 the city council bought the land and the palace, and the park became public.

The avenues cross gardens with native Chilean trees and species brought from other continents, planted by the family over decades. It is one of the most visited green spaces of the Ciudad Jardín, with shaded benches and dirt paths.

At the back of the park is the amphitheater, with capacity for more than 15,000 people. Every February the Viña del Mar International Song Festival takes place there, broadcast to several countries in Latin America. Outside the festival season the stage hosts other shows.

At the park entrance, the Palacio Vergara houses the Museo de Bellas Artes of the city, and visits to both are usually done together.
