About Playa Acapulco
Playa Acapulco is Viña del Mar's central beach, alongside Avenida San Martín.
The water is cold in any month due to the Humboldt Current, which flows up from Antarctica along Chile's coast. Many bathers stay on the sand or just dip their feet. In the season, from December to March, there are lifeguards and marked bathing areas.
To the south, near the mouth of the estero Marga Marga, stands the Casino Municipal building, with art-deco lines, visible from the outside. To the north, Avenida Perú and Avenida San Martín run parallel to the sea, with cafés, ice-cream shops and benches facing the ocean.
The sun sets over the Pacific, facing the beach, and late afternoon is the busiest time on the boardwalk.
