The pools are linked by wooden walkways among tall grass and rock walls. The area is a conservation reserve, with rules to protect the stream and vegetation.

Practical information
Cidade Turismo reviews its information regularly, but something may have changed. Check with the place before planning your trip.
How much time to set aside
Two to three hours.
Best time
Visits run in morning and afternoon shifts, with a break at midday. The morning is cool for entering the warm water; in the afternoon the sun heats the walkways. Check in advance before going.
How to get there
It is on road B-245, the same that leads to El Tatio: at the fork, take the right. It’s about a 40-minute drive on a dirt road, with a winding descent at the end; a high-clearance vehicle or 4×4 is ideal. Many tours combine Puritama with the return from El Tatio.
Tip
Buy your ticket in advance, because each shift has limited spots. Remove silver jewelry, which darkens in the water. Pregnant visitors should consult their doctor beforehand.
