- Cachoeira da Capivara It's in the Engenho II community, in the Kalunga quilombola territory, and forms small cascades and pools between canyon walls before the main fall. Access requires a licensed guide, and the short trail is usually combined with Santa Bárbara.
- Cachoeira Candaru Also in the Kalunga community of Engenho II, it has a drop of about 70 meters and two natural pools for swimming. The trail, about 3 km long and difficult, keeps the place less crowded than the neighboring waterfalls, and a guide is required.
- Cachoeira Santa Bárbara A waterfall that drops into an almost unreal turquoise-blue pool, inside the Kalunga quilombola territory. Access is with guides from the community itself.
- Complexo do Prata A series of seven waterfalls formed by the Rio Prata, including Rei do Prata and Rainha do Prata, spread along a full-day trail. It's in a rural area far from the center, reached by dirt road, and a guide is required.
When to go
From May to September, in the dry season, the dirt roads are better. In the rainy season, from October to April, access can be difficult. The Kalunga people's religious pilgrimages take place in August, in Vão de Almas, and in September, in Vão do Moleque.
How many days to stay
Two days: one for Santa Bárbara and Capivara, in the Kalunga territory, and another for the Complexo do Prata or Candaru. Three, if you want to include Teresina de Goiás on the way.
