About Floresta Nacional de Passa Quatro

The Floresta Nacional de Passa Quatro protects an area of Mata Atlântica in southern Minas Gerais, along the Serra da Mantiqueira. Its origins date back to the 1940s, when it was created by the former Instituto Nacional do Pinho. The landscape combines native forest and plantations of araucarias, pines and eucalyptus, showing different stages of the forest's use and conservation. Visitors will find a space aimed at outdoor recreation and environmental education. The trails, the lake, the nurseries and the Cachoeira do Iporã are part of the same unit and should be visited according to the staff's guidance. The area's proximity to the urban zone makes a visit of a few hours easy. Bring water and comfortable footwear for the walking sections. Observe the vegetation without collecting plants and keep wild animals away from food.
