About Trilha do Platô
The Trilha do Platô climbs from the upper part of Monte Verde, a district of Camanducaia (MG), to a large, almost flat rock slab high in the Serra da Mantiqueira. It is about 1.25 km uphill, at an intermediate level.
The path crosses dense forest, with stretches of loose rocks and uneven ground, and has steep climbs from the start. It requires basic fitness.
At the top, the rock opens up a wide view of the mountains and, on clear days, the Paraíba Valley, with São José dos Campos in the distance. Be careful near the cliff edges, and turn back if the fog closes in.
There is an entrance fee, and the trail can be done on your own or with a guide from an accredited agency. Children must be at least 8, and pets are not allowed. Guided outings to watch the sunset from the viewpoint also leave from the Platô area.
