About Chapéu do Bispo
Chapéu do Bispo (Bishop's Hat) is a rock formation high in the Serra da Mantiqueira, in Monte Verde, a district of Camanducaia (MG). The name comes from the shape of the rock, which resembles the miter worn by bishops.
The trail is short and passes viewpoints overlooking the forest and surrounding mountains. The final stretch, to reach the top of the rock, is a scramble that requires strength and skill.
Visits are only allowed with an accredited guide, hired through Monte Verde's tour agencies, and must be booked in advance. According to the town government and the agency that manages the area's trails, the outing appeals to those who already have experience on difficult trails.
You can combine the visit with the Platô, another rock with a sweeping view on the same stretch of the range.
