About Parque Estadual Águas da Prata
The Parque Estadual Águas da Prata protects about 50 hectares of Atlantic Forest adjacent to the town's central area. Known by locals as Bosque, it was reclassified as a state park in 2018. Visitors will find remnant forest with jequitibás, perobas and palmito-juçara, as well as paths for observing vegetation and wildlife. The Padre and Vilela springs are part of the park's connection to the history of the town's mineral waters. Plan your walk along the open routes and set aside pauses to look at the trees and listen for birds. The trails and springs are part of the same conservation unit, so they can be visited in a single outing. Visitor access is on Estrada Municipal Jucá Sanches, in the center. Confirm opening hours before you go and check with staff about trail conditions; weather can change the pace of the walk and the available areas.
