From Recife, BR-101 leads to the accesses of PE-060. The beaches of Gaibu and Calhetas are reached via coastal branches; Engenho Massangana is located along PE-060. Choose your lodging base before planning routes.
How many days
Two days separate the heritage of Engenho Massangana from the beaches of Gaibu and Calhetas. To visit other stretches of the Cabo coast, add another stage.
When to go
Between September and February there is usually less rain in the Cabo. From March to July is the rainiest period. In the coves, check the tide and waves before choosing activities in the water.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
A vehicle or hired transport helps combine Massangana and the coastal nuclei. Gaibu and Calhetas have different approaches, and some circulation near the sand is on foot.

Is the center of the Cabo next to the beaches?
The municipal seat and the coastal centers are separate. Check whether your base is in Gaibu, Calhetas, or another stretch before arranging transport.
Is Engenho Massangana a different kind of outing than the beach?
The engenho deals with the memory of Joaquim Nabuco and the sugar society. Its entrance is on the PE-060 corridor, outside the coves.
Can Gaibu and Calhetas be combined on foot?
Proximity does not eliminate differences in access and terrain. Use established paths and assess the movement with your group before setting out.
How to visit Calhetas without relying on sports?
The cove can be observed from public access points and on foot. Commercial activities and swimming are separate choices.
