Camocim is about 355 km from Fortaleza. There are Guanabara buses from Fortaleza. From Jericoacoara, the west tour reaches Tatajuba by buggy or 4x4, with a ferry crossing. The nearest airport is Jericoacoara, in Cruz.
How many days
Two days: one for Ilha do Amor and the beaches, another for Tatajuba. If you are short on time, Tatajuba can also be done on a full-day tour from Jericoacoara.
When to go
From July to January, with strong wind and little rain, good for kitesurfing and windsurfing at Maceió and Caraúbas. The rains are concentrated in the first half of the year, when Ilha do Amor forms shallow pools. The festival of the patron saint, Bom Jesus dos Navegantes, is in November.
Do you need a car?
Downtown and along the river, no. For Maceió and Caraúbas, more than 10 km away, yes. For Tatajuba, only 4x4 or buggy, with a ferry crossing on the Coreaú River.
