Acaraú is a little over 200 km from Fortaleza, via the CE-085. There are Guanabara buses from Fortaleza. The nearest airport is Jericoacoara, in Cruz; Fortaleza is the main one.

How many days

One day, for Arpoeiras, Volta do Rio and Barrinha. Travelers who come for kitesurfing usually stay longer.

When to go

From July to January, with steady wind and little rain. The rains are concentrated in the first half of the year. On March 19 there are São José regattas in Barrinha and Volta do Rio. The festival of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, the patron saint, runs from November 27 to December 8.

Do you need a car?

Yes. The beaches are far from downtown, Arpoeiras about 20 km away, and access to Barrinha along the beach depends on low tide.

Yes. Arpoeiras has steady wind, and the second half of the year is the best time.

Where is Barrinha?

On the coast of Acaraú, about 27 km from Jericoacoara. It is an old fishing village covered by the dunes, with shallow lagoons between them. Along the beach, only at low tide.

When are the regattas?

On March 19, São José's Day, in Barrinha and Volta do Rio.
