Belmonte – BA Destination Costa do Descobrimento

How to get there

  • Aeroporto de Porto Seguro (BPS) Porto Seguro

Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Along the coast, the BA-001 connects Belmonte to the Cabrália region; arriving from downtown Cabrália includes the João de Tiba ferry. Another approach can use the BR-101 and access routes via Itapebi and Barrolândia. Choose the alternative according to the transport selected.

How many days

Two days allow dedicating one stage to the casario and the lighthouse exterior and another to the river. With one day, prioritize the urban walk; navigation requires separate arrangements.

When to go

August and September tend to be less rainy and milder. March and April, and November and December generally have higher rainfall. From December to February there is more activity on the coast; tide and river conditions guide boat trips.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

The casario and the lighthouse exterior can be part of a walking urban tour. For coastal accesses, combined transport makes movement easier. Visits along the Jequitinhonha require a boat and a defined return point.
