About Parque Natural Municipal Barão de Mauá
Parque Natural Municipal Barão de Mauá is located in the Jardim da Paz neighborhood in Magé, on the shore of Baía de Guanabara. Its history is linked to the recovery of the mangrove affected by the 2000 oil spill. The reforested area has once again hosted the vegetation that supports this ecosystem, with exposed roots, channels influenced by the tides and shelter for coastal fauna. Visitors will find an environmental education circuit, a deck by the beach and an observation tower. The visit allows you to understand how the mangrove contributes to the life of the bay and to take in the landscape without leaving the prepared routes. The park offers guided tours and educational activities; check opening status and participation conditions before going. Walk along the designated passages, bring water and allow time to observe the environment. The outing includes the park’s structures and paths and they need not be treated as separate attractions.
