About Pico do Itapeva

Pico do Itapeva is one of the highest viewpoints in Brazil accessible by car, more than 2,000 meters above sea level in the Serra da Mantiqueira. It lies within the territory of Pindamonhangaba, right on the border, but the only road access is through Campos do Jordão.

The name comes from Tupi. From the top, the view opens over the São Paulo part of the Paraíba Valley, with several towns scattered below, such as São José dos Campos, Taubaté and Pindamonhangaba. On clear days, the horizon stretches far.

The summit has a viewpoint with visitor facilities, a snack bar, a small shop and a lavender field that is very popular for photos. It is a quick, effortless outing, good for all ages.

Because of the altitude, it is colder and windier than in town, even on sunny days.
