About Cachoeira Abraão

Cachoeira Abraão (waterfall) is one of the most popular waterfalls in Bom Retiro, in the Serra Catarinense. It is on private property in the Paraíso da Serra community, a few kilometers from downtown.

The water drops from a tall rock wall, more than 50 meters high, surrounded by forest. When the wind blows, the veil of water sways and seems to dance in the air, which makes for great photos.

You get there on a short, easy trail that passes a paleoburrow, a tunnel dug by prehistoric animals. The waterfall has no pool, but you can get close and cool off under the falls, like a giant shower.

The place is also known for free-hanging rappelling, where you descend suspended in front of the falls. The activity is run by a licensed company and must be booked in advance.

There is a fee, and visits must be booked in advance with the property. It is a relaxed outing, good for families and for anyone who wants to see a tall waterfall without much walking.
