About Cascata da Barrinha
Cascata da Barrinha (waterfall) is a small waterfall at the entrance to Bom Jardim da Serra, in the Serra Catarinense. It sits beside the SC-390 highway, the road that climbs the Serra do Rio do Rastro, right next to the town's entrance arch.
It is one of the easiest stops in the region. You need no guide and no long trail: arriving by car, you can already see the waterfall from the road. Next to the arch, a stairway leads down to the water, where you see the falls head-on.
The waterfall is small but pretty, and the water is very cold all year. In winter, on days of heavy frost, ice may form around the edges. In summer, people often gather on the rocks around the falls.
It is a good stop to stretch your legs and take photos if you are coming from the Serra do Rio do Rastro viewpoint or heading to the canyons of Bom Jardim da Serra. The visit is quick and suits all ages, but the stairs and wet rocks call for care.
