About Parque Anauá
Parque Anauá is the largest green leisure area in Boa Vista and one of the biggest urban parks in northern Brazil. It is on Avenida Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes, between downtown and the Aeroporto neighborhood, and has lakes, lawns, paths and cultural and sports facilities.
The park was built in the 1980s, under governor Ottomar de Souza Pinto, based on a design chosen in a competition. The name comes from an Indigenous word that, according to local tradition, means meeting place.
The heart of the park is the Lago dos Americanos, surrounded by trees and with a pier over the water. Around it are walking and running paths, sports courts, skate and roller-skating tracks, an amphitheater, a forró dance venue, a square with fountains, snack bars and a museum. Many people come to run, ride bikes, fly kites or picnic on the grass.
In the late afternoon, when the heat eases, the park fills with families, groups of friends and athletes. The paths are flat, which makes visiting with children and older people easy. Some facilities have their own days and hours, so check beforehand.

An hour is enough to walk around the lake; with a picnic, sports or the sunset, allow the whole afternoon.

In the late afternoon, when the Boa Vista heat eases and the sunset colors the lake. Early morning is also good for walking with fewer people.
How to get there
It is on Avenida Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes, between downtown and the Aeroporto neighborhood, a few minutes by car or ride-hailing app from downtown. City bus lines run along the avenue.
Tip
Bring water, sunscreen and a sarong to sit on the grass, and arrive before sunset to catch the best light over the Lago dos Americanos.
