About Praia do Açutuba

Praia do Açutuba is a river beach on the bank of the Rio Negro, in Iranduba, on the other side of the Ponte Rio Negro (bridge) from Manaus. It is one of the freshwater beaches most popular with locals on weekends.

Like every beach on the Rio Negro, it depends on the water level. At low water, the light sand appears and forms a long strip, with sandbanks reaching into the river. In the sun, the dark water of the Rio Negro takes on bluish reflections and turns reddish in the shallows, next to the sand.

Along the shore there are stalls and restaurants serving regional fish and drinks, with tables and umbrellas on the sand. The water is calm, good for swimming near the shore. At high water, the sand disappears and the trees along the bank stand in the water.

It is a full-day outing for families and groups of friends. You get there by car, by road, with no trail.
