The local experience
A floodplain lake on Ilha do Careiro, surrounded by riverside communities and known for its giant water lilies and abundant fish. Access is by water only, on boats leaving from the Ceasa port in Manaus, with a transfer to smaller boats.
A road of about 21 kilometers that crosses the municipality's floodplain, paved in concrete and popular with cycling groups. Along the way you see kapok and munguba trees, egrets and caimans, as well as cattle ranches.
